Tactico Closes $4 Million Space Deal with Intuitive Machines
MONTREAL, Feb. 8th, 2022 – Canadian venture capital firm Tactico has entered into a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) with Intuitive Machines, LLC in an aggregate amount of USD $4 million.
Intuitive Machines is one of nine original companies chosen to partner with NASA on its CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) contractor program to deploy NASA instrumentation and payloads on the Lunar surface.
Tactico managing partner Rick Ness comments: “The team at Tactico is extremely excited about this huge opportunity. It’s the largest amount of capital we have raised to date, and it allows us to diversify our portfolio by exploring new horizons and breaking into new ecosystems.”
NASA grants Intuitive Machines a unique opportunity
NASA has granted Intuitive Machines three missions – more than what was offered to any other commercial provider. The goal of the first mission, IM-1 is to deliver five NASA payloads and commercial cargo to the Vallis Schroteri region on the Moon, making it the first commercial lander on the Moon.
Ness recently met with the Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus and his team on site in Houston. “The team brings a combined total of more than 90 years in the industry,” he says. “I was incredibly impressed with their expertise and leadership.”
An emerging industry
Previously funded by governments, the aerospace industry is now growing rapidly; according to Forbes, investors poured USD $14.5 billion into space companies in 2021. Projections show that the industry should reach a trillion-dollar valuation by 2040.
